Happy 6th Birthday Makayla!!

Makayla turned 6 years old on November 11. When she woke up in the morning and came downstairs she was greeted by birthday banners and balloons decorating the living room and kitchen (something we have done every year). She headed to school where her teacher and class sang happy birthday to her and gave her a nice card. After school Gramma and Grampa came over for dinner. Makayla chose to have eggs, bacon and pancakes for her special birthday dinner. Mommy made her a birthday cake, as she does every year. Makayla opened her birthday presents after birthday cake and was so happy and thankful for what she received! She had a great 6th birthday!!

Halloween!

Makayla and Nicholas had a fantastic Halloween! Makayla dressed up as a pegasus this year, and looked truly magical! Nicholas was a dinosaur, and was in his absolute glory that he got to be a T-Rex!

A Happy Thanksgiving Nature Walk

On Thanksgiving day, the 4 of us, along with Gramma and Grampa went for a drive to find a great big pond that Michael used to go for hikes around when he was much younger. It turned out to be a great hike on a very beautiful day. The kids had a great time, as did the rest of us.

Nicholas at the farm

One nice, cold day, Nicholas, Mommy, Grandma and Grandpa headed to the local farm to walk around and see the sites (Makayla was at school). We got to look at a whole barn full of Christmas turkeys, and go through a fun corn maze. Not to mention taking a few minutes to take some photos of Nicholas with the pumpkins.

Nicholas' First Day of School

Nicholas started Junior Kindergarten this year, so hard to believe that that time has come so soon! He was very excited about his new Cars backpack and lunch bag, and seemed okay about going to school (until he actually got there, that didn't go so well!!).

Makayla's First Day of School

It is hard to believe that the summer is over and a new school year has begun! Even harder to believe is that Makayla is now in Grade 1, wow! Makayla's teacher this year is Mrs. Hartt and she seems very nice, Makayla really likes her (she even hugged her good-bye the first day!). She was very excited to go back to school to see her friends more often, not nervous at all. Makayla loves school!

Story Book Gardens

The last week of summer vacation we took the kids to Story Book Gardens and had a great time! Makayla and Nicholas love it there. The splash pad is awesome (though the weather was a tad too cool) and all of the climbing structures kept the kids busy for a quite a long time. Makayla absolutely loved the ferris wheel, though Nicholas was terrified to go on it. Lots of things to see and do and we look forward to heading back there next year!

Swimming, Swimming in the neighbour's pool...

We were very fortunate to be able to 'pool sit' for our friends/neighbors one week this summer. The kids were able to go for a swim a couple times and had a great time. Makayla is such a little fish and Nicholas is more than content just sitting on the pool steps (I did manage to actually get him into the pool a couple times, of course that was with me holding him!).

Makayla's Last Soccer Game

Makayla has had a great time playing soccer this summer. She improved a lot over the soccer season. Here she is receiving her trophy (from her coach) and with her whole team.

Gramma's Cottage

The kids and Christa slept over one night at her Mom's cottage. The kids had a ton of fun playing with sparklers around the camp fire and playing in Lake Erie.

Camping at Bon Echo

This year we headed up to Bon Echo to camp (thanks to Cathy for letting us use her trailer!!). The kids LOVED it! We all had a great time, yes, even Christa LOL The kids loved going to the beach to go swimming, and the various children's programs. We all enjoyed going on a boat tour and seeing ancient pictographs.

Canada Day

For the holiday we went and participated in our city's Canada Day festivities. The kids were able to see a Care Bear 'show' and then were very lucky to be able to meet a couple Care Bears.

Berry Good!

The whole fam went strawberry picking back the end of June and ended up with a ton of strawberries. We ended up picking cherries as well, yum!

The Dance Recital

Here is Makayla all set for her dance recital. Her group danced to A Spoonful of Sugar and they did such a great job, and looked beautiful doing it!

A new blog

Here we go. Aunt Cathy suggested to Christa that we should have our own blog so that people can see new photos of the kids, so, voila!
