Florida

For March break our family was extremely lucky to be able to vacation down in Treasure Island, Florida. The area is absolutely gorgeous, and we could not have asked for better weather. The resort we stayed in was right on the beach, looking out at the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico (boy oh boy were the sunsets amazing!). We did so much down there that it is tiring to think about! The kids collected a ton of shells from the beach, and had a ton of fun playing in the warm sand. And they spent hours upon hours swimming in the warm pool.

Our first full day there, Thursday, we headed to Disney World and had a great time. The kids had lots of fun going on the rides and checking out all the cool sites. Makayla says that her favourite ride was Thunder Mountain (this one terrified Nicholas) and Nicholas loved the Dumbo Ride (flying around in the air). It was a fun day and we hope to return in a few years :)

The Friday was more of a quiet day, we mostly hung out around the resort, checking out the beach in the morning and playing in the sand and in the pool. Needed the rest after Disney World and all that walking and waiting in line! Saturday was basically the same except that the kids got to hang out with Gramma and Grampa for a few hours while Michael and I headed to a giant flea-market..

Sunday we went to Dinosaur World. I think Nicholas was in heaven. Imagine walking through a forest setting with giant dinosaurs standing all around you. Not to mention digging for fossils and uncovering a massive Stegosaurus skeleton. It was great!

Monday the kids and I, along with Gramma, Aunt Lisa and their cousins Connor and Christopher went on a Pirate Ship Cruise. It was definitely a good time and the kids really enjoyed themselves. They thought it was very cool that they got to meet 'real' pirates and were able to take home 'real' treasure. Lots of fun!

Tuesday was out last day there and another quiet day after a fairly adventurous few days. Lots of swimming in the pool and hanging out with family (and re-packing!). Makayla and Nicholas had so much fun in the pool with their cousins Tasha, Miranda, Connor and Christopher.

It was a great vacation filled with great memories and we were sad to leave the warmth and scenery behind. The kids miss the palm trees and being able to go swimming in the pool everyday. Hopefully one day we will make it back there again....

Hanging out in the Atlanta airport waiting to for our plane to Florida.

On the plane to Florida, it was a very long day!

The gorgeous Gulf of Mexico sunset!

Enjoying a nice cool treat at the Magic Kingdom.

It's A Small World.....

Christa and the kids outside Mickey Mouse's house.

Hanging out in Mickey's backyard in front of Pluto's dog house. Check out those Mouse Ears!

The whole family in front of Cinderella's Castle.

We were able to see some very pretty fireworks from the parking lot as we were leaving Disney World.

The Thunderbird Resort, a very nice place!

The kids had a blast in the pool, the water was so warm!

Dinosaur World!!

Peeking out from T-Rex's mouth!

Digging for fossils. They each got to take 3 fossils home with them.

Digging out a Stegasaurus skeleton.

Aargh!!! Getting ready to board the Pirate ship!

Water gun fight!

The Pirate Avenging Austin was very entertaining for the kids (and adults).

Pirate Makayla

Pirate Nicholas

Before out trip Nicholas hated swimming. But he loved it there, we couldn't keep him out!

Makayla made friends with this little girl, Tatiana, and they played in the pool together a lot.

Looking for seashells along the beach.

This sand sculpture was amazing. So much detail, especially the back of it!

The entire 'clan' that went down to Florida. We all had a great time!

Our rooms were on the main floor. Ours was the one beside where that white SUV is.

The R.O.M

The kids had a great time when we took them to the Royal Ontario Museum. Their favourite part was seeing all the dinosaur bones! (in fact I think they could have cared less about the rest of the museum LOL) They were in absolute awe at the size of some of the dinosaurs, especially T-Rex! It was a lot of fun and they both want to go back.

No matter how much they fight, and fight a lot they do, it is moments like that that help to make it all worth it ...
